It’s that time of year again, and we would love to have you join us for the
21st Annual Rotary West Diamonds International Charity Golf Classic.
This coincides with our Club’s 50th anniversary, of successfully
fulfilling our mission of “Service Above Self” through projects in service of those
less fortunate in our community.
Proceeds from this year’s Classic will bring to fruition our “Clear Vision, Bright Futures” project,
that focuses on preventing vision loss that can be avoided and which is a significant issue due to our
country’s high prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia.
The acquisition of the Optos California Ultra-widefield (UWF) Camera at a cost of $270,000 will
revolutionize retinal disease management in Barbados. At present there is no such technology within the QEH Eye
Clinic and this piece of technology will greatly improve the detection of diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive
retinopathy, and various peripheral retinal pathologies, facilitating annual screenings for more than
15,000 patients and tripling the existing capacity.
Once again, we are pleased to have Diamonds International as our title sponsor, a partnership that has flourished
since the inception of this event 23 years ago. They will graciously host players and their guests at a culminating
prize-giving ceremony.
